Do you want a better way to track the media you experience? Are you currently using lists you’ve recorded in a notebook and want to be able to get this information no matter where you are? These websites allow you to create accounts that let you accomplish these tasks!
(Note: These websites allow you to create free accounts, but some also allow you to pay a monthly or annual fee to access more services. These websites do not require a fee for basic tracking services)
Books
The definitive reading tracking website is Goodreads. This website allows you to track your reading, rereads, and books you want to read. You can set a reading challenge for yourself every year. You can follow friends and see what they are reading. It will also give you recommendations based on your reading.
Movies
Letterboxd does many things similar to Goodreads, but for movies. It lets you record movies you’ve seen in the past and track ones as you see them. It also allows you to track watching the same movie multiple times. You can keep a list of movies you intend to see as well.
TV Shows
TrackSeries is a lightweight service that allows you to track TV series that you have watched or are interested in. You can keep track of the episodes that you have seen in a series so you know what to watch next. This is especially helpful if you are checking out TV series from the library. You can also view a calendar of upcoming new episodes for shows you are interested in.
If you want a more feature-filled experience, you should check out Trakt. It allows you to track both TV shows and movies, so you can use just one account to do both. This is a feature-rich website, but many of these features are locked behind a pay-wall.
Music
While there are many different ways to stream music now, there only seems to be one way to track that listening. That services is called Last.fm. It connects to many different streaming services, including Spotify, Pandora, and Google Play Music. It also allows you to track music played through your computer or smartphone. Last.fm is a great for getting to know your own music taste or sharing it with others.
If you want to take a more DIY approach, you can try creating boards on Pinterest. Here’s some examples for movies and books.
